Languages and Communication
In an ever-growing multicultural society, York Academy puts strong emphasis on the benefits of language and communication as functional skills to be acquired and developed. York Academy's curriculum is designed for students to acquire fluency in more than one language, while enabling them to bridge social and cultural divides, with relative ease. Exposing students to whole new language structures, making them conscious of vocabulary, grammar, syntax, conjugation, idioms, and colloquialisms, allows them to achieve fluency at a greater pace. Students will learn English, as it is York Academy's main language.
Furthermore, since language and communication is a doorway to a particular culture, learning and being exposed to new languages enables York Academy students to have a broader understanding of diversity, race and culture. Aside from the mental, social and cultural benefits, multilingualism at York Academy is a valuable means for students to:
- Boost brain power
- Develop multi-task ability
- Improve memory
- Develop alert and keen minds
- Improved decision-making skills
